FAQ

Do we ship internationally, as well as to Canada?

Yes. Our standard way to ship is using UPS. If you need Fed-EX or DHL, you will need to supply an account number. To place an order from outside the USA please e-mail purchase orders to support@acuopt.com.

Is it possible to ship on my UPS account number?

Yes, you can add your company's account information right before checkout.

What is a Neutral Density Filter?

Neutral Density Filters reduce incident light intensity without changing its spectral signature.

What is a Bandpass Filter?

By absorption and/or reflection, bandpass filters transmit a narrow spectral bandwidth, rejecting all unwanted energy outside a specified region.

What is half power?

Half power is the location in nanometers(nm) which corresponds to half of the maximum transmission in the specified region.

What is Cut-on?

Typically defined by the half power location in nanometers(nm) of a longpass filter or the lowside edge of a bandpass filter.

What is Cut-off?

Typically defined by the half power location in nanometers(nm) of a longpass filter or the highside edge of a bandpass filter.

What is a longpass filter?

Longpass filters typically transmit 100’s of nanometers(nm) above the cut-on while rejecting by reflection and/or absorbing light below the cut-on.

What is a shortpass filter?

Shortpass filters typically transmit 100 to 200nm below the cut-off while rejecting by reflection of a specified region of light above the cut-off.

What is AOI?

Angle of incidence of light on the surface of an optical element.

What is a dichroic beamsplitter?

Typically oriented at 45 AOI, dichroic beamsplitters reflect a region of the spectrum and transmit another.

What is CWL?

Center wavelength(CWL) is a calculation on a bandpass filter that gives the center location of the transmission region in nanometers.
CWL= (half power cut-off(nm)) - (half power cut-on(nm)) /2 + (half power cut-on(nm))

What is FWHM?

Full Width Half Maximum(FWHM) is a calculation on a bandpass filter that gives the width of the transmission region in nanometers(nm)
FWHM = (half power cut-off(nm)) - (half power cut-on(nm))
